Chevrolet has decided to retire the Spark, the cheapest car in the United States, by the end of 2022. According to the Motor One website, the small model was available at a cost starting at $13,600,000, which made it the cheapest in America.
According to the American website, Chevrolet did not announce the main reason for stopping the launch of the "Spark" model, but the likely reason is the decline in sales of the model in 2021.
The Chevrolet Spark model appeared for the first time in 2007, and in 2009, Chevrolet presented the first test version of it, while announcing its launch to the market officially in 2012. The first generation of it was in 2013. The current generation of the model, the fourth and final generation, made its debut in 2015 and was introduced as a 2016 model.
With regard to its sales, in 2021 the model witnessed a decline when it sold only 24,459 thousand copies, compared to its sales in 2020, by 26.9%.
Meanwhile, Chevrolet unveiled its Silverado EV pickup, which is based on pure electric propulsion.
The American company explained that the new car is available in 3 equipment lines: the first line RST, which offers many luxury equipment, the WT line, which provides many practical features, and the Trailboss line suitable for off-road.
Chevrolet did not reveal the technical data and performance rates for the car, but it announced that the car will have a range of 640 km. The car relies on a superior suspension group, and a four-wheel steering system.
