Caring for your cat during periods of high heat
The summer is well underway, the first big heat has made itself felt and the holidays are organized. A question then arises for all cat owners: how to take care of your feline throughout the summer? Here are some tips for a quiet vacation with your cat.
- Why is it important to take care of your cat?
- Do cats know you care about them?

Avoid dehydration
If it is very hot, keep your cat at home in a ventilated and cool room. Make sure your cat drinks enough so that he does not become dehydrated or develop urinary problems such as cystitis, which are common in cats.
Some tips to encourage your cat to drink:
- use a water fountain
- put ice cubes in its water to refresh it
- flavor his water with tuna juice, they love it

Watch for Cat skin problems
The period of high heat agrees with a period of moulting. Brush your cat daily to prevent their coat from clumping together in the form of a hairball.
Under his hair, check for any skin issues and make sure there are no parasites like fleas. If this is the case, treat the fleas because in 48 hours they begin to lay… from 25 to 50 eggs per day. The easiest way is to treat your cat preventively and monthly against these. Ask your veterinarian who will be able to advise you.
What to do with your cat if you go on vacation?

It is possible to go on vacation with your kitty. But be careful, there are several points to check:

- fasten its transport box with a seat belt
- give him something to drink regularly to avoid dehydration

- do not take it out of its transport box: this can be dangerous while driving and it could escape during a break on the motorway
